Booking

Gemma takes bookings 2 years in advance and are only secured once the deposit is paid.

You will need to fill in the contact form on the contacts page and then if you are happy and accept the quote and T’s and C’s ,Gemma requires a £100 deposit by bank transfer to secure the date.

Due to how far in advance Gemma gets booked up in the studio and at weddings , she cant guarantee your wedding date will be free when you have your trial. However if you take the risk and book a trial without paying a deposit and your wedding date is no longer available then she will not be held responsible.

Yes, for the mobile service the minimum booking requirement is Bride + 3 adult Persons . If your wedding party doesn’t reach the minimum booking requirement then Gemma is still able to travel out but the minimum booking charge will still apply.

Yes, if you are getting married locally and have a smaller bridal party and are not wanting to pay the minimum booking requirement then Gemma is happy to accommodate this at a reduced rate. (Prices are on our bridal page)

The number of persons Gemma is able to apply makeup to is very much dependant on the amount of time available. She has worked alone on parties up to 10, however this is not always possible due to venue start/ ceremony times.

Gemma can arrive as early as needed and happy to travel to 2 locations if necessary at an additional cost which can be discussed upon enquiry.

For larger bookings an assistant makeup artist (based on availability) may also be reserved for an additional £60 supplement, this can help to reduce preparation time.

Gemma offers wedding bookings from Wednesday to Sundays, covering all areas within a 30-mile radius of Cheshire, including Chester, Wrexham, Manchester, Warrington, Stoke on Trent, Stafford, Stockport, Buxton. If you are unsure that your area is covered then contact Gemma directly. Trials are held at her studio in Congleton, after which she will come to your chosen venue on the big day to prepare you and your bridal party.

All mobile wedding bookings incur an additional travel fee of 50p per mile which is payable each way from ST7 2FE.

You will need to fill in the contact form on the contacts page and then if you are happy and accept the quote and T’s and C’s ,Gemma requires a £100 deposit by bank transfer to secure the date.

Trials

A trial is usually taken between 6-8 weeks before the wedding date.

However this is entirely up to you , as long as you have decided your dress , main colourscheme, there is no time too early.

Gemma does get booked up in advance, so always recommends booking a date in the dairy as soon as possible to ensure a good choice of dates. ( Please note, due to the studio bookings Gemma cannot guarantee weekend trial appointments).

Not at all. It is only compulsory for the bride to have a pre-wedding makeup trial, however other members of the wedding party are more than welcome to have one too if they would like.
A trial is always recommended to any member of the wedding party who has sensitive skin, or is at all worried or nervous about having her makeup done on the wedding day.

Yes, It’s a great idea to bring along a friend, bridesmaid or mum to your trial to give moral support and a second opinion. However only 2 persons maximum can attend for each bride due to the size of the studio.

Gemma suggests for you to create a Pinterest board of similar makeup looks that you like and also images of your dress, flowers, hair inspo, if you have them. Also if you could provide an image of what you look like on a regular makeup day so she understands what you are comfortable with. On your trial day if you could wear a light / white coloured top also making sure your skin is makeup free and thoroughly cleansed leaving no traces of mascara. This ensures that you will get the best experience and outcome from your trial.

For the bride usually 1- 1.5 hours and for any additional persons 1 hour each.

All trials are based at Gemmas Studio in Congleton, Dollface makeup Studio Ltd, 42a Lawton street, Congleton, CW12 1RS. There is ample parking at the back at Back Park Street Car Park.

Payments

Please first contact Gemma via the contact form on the contact page and she will aim to respond 2-3 days to check her availability for your date.
If she is available, she will include in her reply account details for the booking fee, which is payable via bank transfer.

The final wedding balance is to be paid 2 weeks prior to the wedding date if paying by bank transfer or on the wedding day if paying by cash. The £100 deposit payment is deducted from the final balance.

Cancellations for secured wedding day appointments will incur the following charges:
4 weeks or less notice: 100% Charge will apply
6 weeks or less notice: 50% Charge will apply
Over 6 weeks notice: No further charges will apply excluding £100 booking fee already paid.

In the event of the wedding being postponed, Gemma will endeavour to accommodate the new booking arrangements, however if she is unable to do this it will be considered a cancellation

Wedding Day

Depending upon style of makeup, 1 hour for bridal makeup and 45 minutes each per additional person. Younger bridesmaids usually take 20-30 minutes, and flower girls around 5-10 minutes each.

Gemma allows 15-30 minutes (depending upon the size of the wedding party) for final touches at the end of preparations, including lipstick/gloss, finishing powder and last minute alterations.

She will aim to finish makeup around 1 hour before the ceremony (or the time you will be leaving if you are getting ready elsewhere), this will enable you to have time to get dressed, speak to the registrar and have a well earned glass of Champagne! It also makes sure there is no last minute rush and everything is kept nice and relaxed! Gemma will discuss timings and create a timeable at the trial appointment.

In the extremely unlikely event Gemma should need to cancel your wedding makeup due to illness, or to unforeseen circumstance beyond her control, i.e. weather condition/accident/act of god. She will endeavour to provide a replacement MUA, who she personally recommends to cover your event. If this is not possible 100% refund will be given.

Gemma is able to work and adapt in a small area, however it is ideal to have somewhere to lay out her kit and is ideally close to a window with good natural light. If there are chairs that aren’t sufficient, and not enough natural light then Gemma will bring along with her a professional makeup chair and light.
